The poem I recite each morning to myself is START CLOSE IN, by Irish poet, David Whyte. The first stanza is:

Start Close in

Don't take the second step or the third

Start with the first thing

Close in

The step you don't want to take

I’m thrilled to hear from you again. You’ve helped me dye yarn with my grandkids, introduced me to ceramics, given me delightful insight into knitters in America, and shared things I found joyous and accessible! I will follow you anywhere. You are beloved by more than you realize, and I love to think I’m on your same wavelength!

Thank you for your kind words. Definitely on the same wavelength.

I’m not sure how I ended up here - so much has happened in 5 years. I will say that in that time I took up ceramics and the pottery studio has become my sanctuary. Making things is integral to life. I’m looking forward to hearing more from you.

I’m also a knitter. Perhaps knitting brought me to you. I don’t know but I’m glad I’m here.

I am already inspired! Several things spoke to me in this newsletter and I will joyfully carry them into my day which begins with my Montessori middle school handwork group and ends with a knitting circle with 9-12 year olds. It’s good to hear your voice and feel the threads connecting those of us who are here.

I am so pleased you are back. You are an inspirational writer and person and I know that whatever you have to say will be worth reading. Don’t put pressure on yourself just write when you want to rather than meeting an expectation schedule.

My husband has taken up basket weaving and embroidery and now understands what it has been all about for me all these years

You made a beautiful open work basket ... Now fill that basket with beautiful words, sentences big and small.. fleeting thoughts, joyous worked out expressions, inspiring, encouraging heartfelt., intricate or straightforward. They will all fit in that basket and enlighten us all as you have always done
